Context
A jazz trio demands a very different visual aesthetic than a rock or house show, but the business needs remain the same: actively touring musicians need high-end press images to maintain their perceived value in the market. I stepped in to upgrade their visual collateral during their stop at the iconic Chris' Jazz Cafe.
Objective
Document the technical precision and create hero imagery of the trio and individual members in a low-light environment, providing the artist's management with a curated gallery premium images licensed specifically for promotional and booking use.
Approach
Chris’ Jazz Cafe requires total discretion. I operated silently, utilizing the moody, high-contrast ambient lighting to capture the intense focus of Brandon Goldberg and his trio. The shot list prioritized sophisticated, magazine-quality portraits and atmospheric shots that conveyed the intimate, high-end nature of the room.
Impact
The curated gallery provided the management team with a massive visual upgrade on the flyers for their remaining tour dates. The assets served as immediate social proof for their Philadelphia stop proving the trio's ability to command an iconic room.
